The Big Easy – Mardi Gras
New Orleans Mardi Gras celebrations, old school rhythm and blues and funky Latin-infused jazz grooves are imbued with piano, powerful horns and strong male and female vocals.
We were lucky enough to record this album during the joyful celebrations of Mardi Gras in New Orleans in 2019. The authentic sound derives from the many talented local musicians that we were fortunate to work with. Post-production involved the taklents of others from across the world.
Among those we worked with were the following. all musicians are New Orleans-based unless otherwise shown:
Trumpets – Mark Braud and Leon Brown, Trombones – Mark Mullins and Craig Klein, Clarinet – Evan Christopher, Saxes – Jason Mingledorff, Piano – Josh Paxton, and Leandro Lopez Varady (Chicago), Organ – John ‘papa’ Gros, and Steve Lodder (London), Bass & Sousaphone – Matt Perrine, Bass – Ryan Trebilcock (London), Drums – Eric Bolivar, Guitar & Banjo – Don Vappie, Guitar – Chris Siebold (Chicago), Vocals – Aurora Nealand, Dana Abbott, Sean Carey, Derek Procell (Chicago), Paul Mabin (Chicago), and Greg Stafford, Vocals & Percussion – Jeff Meegan (Chicago), Vocals & Organ – David Tobin (Yorkshire UK).
